Dr. James Leonette
Dr. James Leonette is a native of Bridgeport, WV. He is a graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. During the chiropractic program, he graduated with honors, served as President of Student Council and was a member of the Institutional Review Board that protected human subjects in clinic studies throughout the U.S. Dr. Leonette traveled to Vietnam as a student chiropractor and provided clinical care at multiple hospitals throughout the country. He studied upper cervical chiropractic at Palmer College and completed an internship in Advanced Orthogonal at Pierce Clinic in St. Petersburg, FL. Dr. Leonette has completed an extensive post graduate education in upper cervical chiropractic under Dr. Roy Sweat and is a Board Certified Atlas Orthogonist (BCAO). He is a Fellow in International Academy of Medical Acupuncture. He studied under a chiropractor, acupuncturist and functional medicine practitioner in northern Virginina for several years before returning home to open Enliven Chiropractic & Wellness.
Prior to pursing a career in health care, he served as an investigator with U.S. Food and Drug Administration. He was responsible for inspecting medical device manufacturing facilities throughout Europe and Asia to ensure that they met the FDA Quality System Requirements.
Dr. Leonette holds a M.S. in Industrial Hygiene and B.S. in Medical Technology from West Virginia University. Dr. Leonette founded Enliven Occupational Health to assess and improve the health of workers at manufacturing facilities and extraction businesses. He is a Certified Medical Examiner (CME) and qualified to perform DOT driver medical exams.
Dr. Leonette holds certification by National Board of Chiropractic Examiners (NBCE) in chiropractic and physiotherapy. He is a member of WV Chiropractic Society and International Chiropractic Association. Dr. Leonette is a member of The Masters Circle and The Winners Circle chiropractic groups and regularly attends continuing education programs throughout the U.S. and abroad.
He has studied functional healing for several years under several chiropractic and natural physicians. Enliven Chiropractic was expanded in late 2016 to include natural treatment for chronic diseases through this program. In 2017, Dr. Leonette obtained acupuncture certification and offers that service in the Bridgeport office.
He is currently licensed as a chiropractic physician and acupuncturist in West Virginia and Virginia. He regularly speaks to organizations about health improvement.

Call us to schedule a complimentary consultation to determine if you are a candidate for Spinal Decompression and our multi-step Protocol. The doctor will ask you a series of questions such as “Where is the pain, when did it begin, what makes it better or worse?” Then a thorough examination will be performed in which case the doctor will check your reflexes, blood pressure, balance, gait, skin sensory changes muscle strength and more to determine the cause of your back or neck pain. At this point the doctor may recommend x-rays or an MRI if he feels like further imaging will be necessary to determine the exact cause. After combining all of this information together the doctor will determine if you will make a good candidate for spinal decompression therapy and our multi-step Protocol. If you do qualify for care, your Doctor will explain their recommended plan of action for you. If for some reason you do not qualify for care the doctor will refer you to someone who may better suit your needs.
